Supersize Your September

How do you feel about September now it is almost at an end? Do you mourn the passing of long, hot summer days, or welcome cosy nights by the fireside, and stews in the slow cooker? Do you dread the long winter nights and wonder how you are going to fill them, or do you rub your hands with glee as you break out the craft stuff and/or all those books you haven’t read yet?
The thing is, we can feel good about any month, and anything, provided we approach it in the right way by looking at the benefits rather than the banes, and making the most of every month – indeed, every day. And the way to do that is to make sure you fill your days, weeks and months with the things you love to do most. Supersize your September, not with food, but with experiences, then carry that over into October, November … you get the picture, we’re sure!
Our default setting often seems to be Worst Case Scenario, so let’s use the change of season to change our attitude. Instead of thinking what you dread about September – or anything for that matter – consider the good things. There are always good things along with the bad, because life’s a balance of good and bad. So if we look for good things, we will find them. And if we look for things we like rather than things we loathe, we will find those too.
Sit down with a big piece of paper and make two columns. On one side, write down the things you love to do, big things and little things. Take some time on this, really consider what gives you joy and makes you happy. Put in as much detail as you can. Once you have your list, examine each item in turn and work out how you can do more of what you want to do, every single day. It doesn’t matter whether you work full time, part time or not at all, you should make time every day, several times a day to do the things that give you joy and make you smile. Now write down how and when you are going to do more of the things you really want to do.
Because we tend to put the needs of others before our own, we don’t tend to plan out what we’re going to do in our spare time. We just grab those moments when we can, and as a result, we don’t make the most of them. So as autumn really beds in, we’re asking you to set aside time for yourself, to do what you love to do. It can be as simple as reading a few chapters of a favourite book, or it can be travelling to somewhere you always wanted to go, and anything and everything in between. Only you know what your soul really needs.
This is about making yourself and your needs your priority. It’s about expanding your life and expanding your soul, and it doesn’t have to be expensive, unless you want it to be. It’s about taking the time to connect with yourself, listening to what you need, and making sure you deliver to yourself. In September, everything changes as the leaves fall. This autumn, it’s time to make the changes you need most, and let fall the ingrained thinking that says you have to put the needs of others before your own.
This brings us nicely onto two amazing opportunities I have for you. The first is a natural follow-on from your list of things you like to do – and brings you 100 affirmations that you can incorporate into your daily lives.
The second is a brand new course, designed to help you design your very own magical Vision Book – a great way to visualise and bring the help that the universe has for you.
Create your magical Vision Book
