Don’t you sometimes think cars have it easier than us mere humans? After all, if a car doesn’t feel like starting, everyone rallies around with jump leads. Friends, neighbours, even strangers have one goal – to get that car started and doing what it does best.
So what can we do when we can’t get going, or we feel stuck? The good news is, you can jump start yourself whenever you need to. The even better news is, human jump leads come in many shapes and forms. These are some of the best to try to jumpstart your July.
Friend Jump Leads
Most of us can think of one person who is guaranteed to give us a lift just when we need it most. If you can’t meet up or chat on the phone, send her (or him!) a text. The thing is, we can feel better just by thinking about someone we love to spend time with, because it triggers memories of good times together. Sit with your eyes closed and visualise spending time together. See yourselves laughing over something that nobody else would find remotely funny. Focus on the bond you share. Building anticipation to a meeting with a favourite friend is almost as good for the soul as the actual meeting, so try this if it’s impossible to meet up. Nature’s Jump Leads
We all feel better for getting out in Nature, don’t we? That’s partly because of the beauty all around us, which will lift us even on our darkest days, but there’s also healing energy in nature that we can tap into. The energy in a tree is both calming and revitalising, all at the same time. Look around you and see which tree calls out to you. Then approach it, inwardly ask if you can share its healing energy, close your eyes and place your left palm against the bark of the tree. Stand with feet slightly apart, so you are comfortable, and imagine all your negative energy flowing out through the soles of your feet into Mother Earth to be transmuted to positive energy and sent back into the Universe. Now feel the energy of the tree entering and filling your body. Breathe deeply, and feel the connection strengthening. When you feel ready, thank the tree for sharing its energy and go on your way with a spring in your step. It really works! Water also has healing energy to share. If you can get to the coast or a river or lake, that’s great, but if not, a bowl or a bath of water will do. Water is cleansing, emotionally and physically. Put your feet in water – or better still, immerse your whole body – and feel its cleansing power as it washes away stuck energy and negative emotions. Again, it’s good to do this with your eyes closed, so you can focus on the healing power.
Moon Jump Leads
It’s not only witches and werewolves that commune with the moon! We can all benefit from organising ourselves around the moon to give ourselves a twice-monthly jump start. At New Moon, sit down and think what you want to achieve, and how you are going to go about it. Write it all down, so you can look at it every day, then go outside and send your thoughts to the moon. By focusing on your goals, and then putting your plans ‘out there’ in the Universe, you are already creating your reality. It may seem a small thing to you, but the Universe notices, and will help you achieve your goals. At Full Moon, it’s time to release anything that no longer serves you and may be holding you back from your full potential. Again, start by making a list.
- Is there something from the past you’re still hanging onto?
- Someone in the here and now that’s stealing your joy?
- A pet project that’s not working out?
You need to release them to make way for the things that will work for you. Now go outside and bathe in the cleansing light of the full moon. Send your thoughts about release to the moon, then burn the paper with your triggers written down. You don’t need it – you’ve released them.
